Notre Dame and Indiana have the honors of kicking off a new College Football Playoff when the 7-seed Fighting Irish host the 10-seed Hoosiers in the first-ever CFP game of the 12-team playoff on Friday.
The first-round games of the new playoff setup feature the better-seeded team hosting their lower-seeded opponent, meaning Friday’s matchup between in-state foes will be played in South Bend, Indiana.

It’s not the only matchup of Friday’s slate of games, as Florida faces Tulane in an underrated matchup in the Gasparilla Bowl. The Green Wave, who made the American Athletic Conference championship game this season, will be without starting quarterback Darian Mensah, who announced his transfer to Duke earlier in the offseason.
Elsewhere, Ohio will face off vs. Jacksonville State, whose coach Rich Rodriguez was announced as West Virginia’s next coach after the regular season and will miss Friday’s game.
