As the NCAA football season edges towards its climax later this month, the Buffalo Bulls and the Liberty Flames meet in the Bahamas today, in what is the bowl season’s final non-College Football Playoff game.
While the Flames are making their debut in the Bahamas Bowl – an event that began in 2014 – the Bulls are previous winners of the game. Buffalo are appearing in the Bahamas Bowl for the second time in their history, having beaten the Charlotte 49ers 31-9 in the 2019 edition.
A team that heads into the game with an 8-4 record in 2024 (6-2 in the Mid-American Conference), the Bulls are undefeated since October 26. Pete Lembo’s men were 4-4 after eight games of the campaign, but closed out the regular season with four victories on the spin.
Liberty have also had an eight-win year so far, after defeat to the Sam Houston Bearkats on November 29 saw the Flames complete the regular season with an 8-3 record (5-3 in Conference USA).

The Flames have the clear upper hand in the teams’ head-to-head series: the Virginians have won all three of the colleges’ matchups in men’s football. Most recently, Liberty beat Buffalo 55-27 in week three of their flawless 2023 regular season, before lifting the C-USA title in the team’s first year in the conference.
