Chinese divers claimed four titles on the opening day of the World Aquatics Diving World Cup Super Final in Xi’an, northwest China’s Shaanxi Province.
In the women’s 10m synchronized platform, teenage sensations Chen Yuxi and Quan Hongchan won the first gold medal on offer out of the nine events in three days, ranking first throughout all five attempts to take the podium top with a total score of 364.86 points, followed by divers from Canada and Ukraine.

“We’ll go back to preparing for the Paris Olympics after this, and fine tune ourselves,” said Quan, who at 14 became Olympic champion in Tokyo as the youngest member of that Chinese delegation.
Yang Hao and Lian Junjie later won the second title of the day in the men’s 10m synchronized platform with 472.92 points, followed by the British team led by Tom Daley and divers from Germany.
Wang Zongyuan and Long Daoyi won the men’s 3m synchronized springboard in the afternoon with 474.7 points, about 70 clear of Britain’s runners-up, before Wang, together with Chen Yuxi, Chen Yiwen, and Chang Yani wrapped up the day with a fourth gold in the mixed team event.
A total of 85 elite divers from 15 teams are competing in Xi’an from April 19 to 21, with some still attempting to qualify for the Paris Games through this tournament.
