Rinku Singh and KL Rahul were two of the few surprise omissions by the BCCI selection committee for India’s T20I World Cup squad. Specifically, Rinku Singh has been in India’s scheme of things for the T20 setup in the past year, and his exclusion has bewildered many.
KL Rahul has been India’s vice-captain in the absence of Hardik Pandya, and has also acted as the captain in absence of both Rohit Sharma and Pandya. Meanwhile, Rinku Singh had a stellar international calendar in 2023, following the IPL last year.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was selected over KL Rahul as the opening batter alongside Rohit Sharma, while Shivam Dube got the nod ahead of Rinku Singh for the finishing role. However, the BCCI, and skipper Rohit Sharma, can still tweak their squad for the final selection ahead of the T20I World Cup.
