Hancock sophomore Joe Baro was moved up from the All-Conference First Team to co-Offensive Player of the Year. He is the first men’s All-Conference co-Offensive Player of the Year since Migel Gomez earned the honor in 2017.

The Hancock College men’s basketball team moved to 5-4 with two recent non-conference wins. The Bulldogs defeated Cerritos 69-63 in overtime at Cerritos Nov. 27 and Hartnell 75-59 Tuesday at Hancock’s Joe White Memorial Gymnasium.
River Ortiz and Trenton Lavendar scored 14 points each against Cerritos. Mykel Valrie scored 11. Ortiz led Hancock against Hartnell with 15 points. Owen Ubaldo scored 12.
Hancock season rebounds leader Noah Morris pulled down 11 rebounds against Hartnell and eight against Cerritos. Hancock will play a non-conference game at Coalinga Saturday at 5 p.m.

Some Hancock players moved up in the All-Western State Conference rankings after an update following a recount in the league’s voting procedures.
Hancock sophomore Joe Baro was moved up from the All-Conference First Team to co-Offensive Player of the Year. Baro tallied six goals and three assists. He is the first men’s All-Conference co-Offensive Player of the Year since Migel Gomez earned the honor in 2017. Baro is the fifth conference co-Offensive Player of the Year in program history.
Freshman defender Benny Nicolas moved up from the All-Conference Second Team to the First Team. Goal keeper Max Brewster was moved up from Honorable Mention to the Second Team. Forward Caleb Toledo earned Honorable Mention after the update.
