FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

An interesting challenge for Brazil comes up on Wednesday as they will face Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. Brazil have failed to ease the pressure on Dorival Junior in recent matches, winning just five of their eleven matches in qualification for the 2026 World Cup. Recently, Brazil failed to overcome Venezuela as the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Vinicius Jr was criticised for missing the penalty for the Selecao. Despite their recent struggles, they are capable of winning against Uruguay.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men will be confident going into this fixture as they defeated the last edition of Copa America’s finalist Columbia by 3-2. They are second in the table with 19 points on the board. Uruguay have achieved recent success against Brazil, as they eliminated them from Copa America. Fans can expect this fixture to be an intense one for sure.

Savinho is a technical dribbler with the agility to turn past defenders smoothly and with ease. He uses his flair, skills and flicks to turn past defenders. Savio’s compact frame means that he is one of the best when it comes to shielding/keeping the ball. The Brazillian is heavily left-footed and with his strong foot and beat defenders easily. He is also a good finisher inside the box but still needs some improvements. He likes to cut inside and shoot many times.
Valverde can play multiple positions, he is one of the most versatile players in the Uruguay National Team. Valverde takes a few risks in possession and doesn’t overplay the ball. He instead prioritises retaining possession with each pass he plays. The Uruguayan is one of the most consistently performing players in the team. He is a leader in the team and with his leadership skills, he helps his teammates on and off the pitch. Valverde is physically strong and does not shy away from making tackles. He has got really good shooting skills and can score goals outside the box as well.
