Welcome to Sportstar’s highlights of the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying match between Brazil and Peru played at the Arena BRB Mane Garrincha.
Brazil edged past Peru 4-0 in its FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying match at the Arena BRB Mane Garrincha in Brasilia on Wednesday.
Pereira free-kick goes just over the bar and with it the referee blows the final whistle.
Brazil 4 -0 Peru
Henrique is fouled just outside the box. Free-kick for Brazil. 
Brazilian right-back Vanderson gets into the referee’s book for a challenge on Lopez. 
Brazil is looking inflict more pain on Peru as it searches for the fifth goal. 
Endrick replaces Raphinha. 
Matheus Pereira in for Igor Jesus
It’s time for Luiz Henrique now. The Brazilain forward makes it four. He dribbles past two Peruvian defenders and unleashes a left footed curler from outside the box. Selecao in full control of the match. 
Andreas Pereira scores with a brilliant side volley. The Fulham man gets into the scoresheet just minutes after coming in.

Savinho is replaced by Luiz Henrique
Peru midfielder Wilder Cartagena gets yellow for his challenge on Vanderson.
The game has become end to end. Both teams are looking for goals. Both defences are getting stretched. 
Igor Jesus is denied by Gallese. It came after a brilliant team move. Brazil gets a corner.
After conceding the second goal, Peru is looking for all-out attack. Brazil is sitting deeper now and trying to hit on the break. 
Raphinha makes it two in two. Brazil leads by two goals to nil. 
Penalty for Brazil. Savinho draws a foul inside the box and the referee points to the spot once again. The Manchester City forward is kicked by Carlos Zambrano. 
Jesus Castillo gets a yellow for kicking out at Rodrygo. 
The Brazil vs Peru is back after the break. 
The second-half is about to begin.

The referee blows the whistle and the break arrives. It has been an absorbing half of football.
At the break, Brazil leads with a solitary goal from the spot by Raphinha at 37th minute. 
Brazil is looking to end the first half with a flourish.
Three minutes added on after the end of regulation time. 
Peru goalie Gallese gets into the referee’s book for dissent. Things are heating up in Brasilia. The contest is getting more and more physical with time. 
Peru is looking for an immediate response after going down. Brazil on the other hand is trying to slow down the tempo of the game as half time approaches. 
Raphinha scores from the spot. Brazil leads 1-0. The Barcelona forwards slots it home with composure, he looks on the right and then changes the direction of the ball at the last moment to glide it past Gallese. 
Brazil appeals for a penalty. Igor Jesus tries to bring the ball under control inside the Peruvian box and it appears to have hit the hand of a defender. The referee says play on. VAR is investigating the situation. 
VAR has asked the referee to have a look at it and he points to the spot. PENALTY for Brazil. 
Brazil living dangerously. Playing out from the back nearly costs them. Marquinhos plays a sloppy back pass to Ederson which was almost intercepted by Flores. 
Brazil is putting intense pressure on the Peruvian defence but its unable to breach it’s compact shape. Yet another corner for the five-time world champions. 
Reyna with another foul on Guimaraes, the Peru forward needs to very very careful from now on, otherwise his team can go down to 10 men.
Brazil is still enjoying a lion share of the ball but yet to make any significant inroad inside the Peru box. 
Brazil is inviting Peru to press and looking to play out from the back. Peru has started to grow into the contest. 
Flores scores for Peru but the flag is raised by the lineman – off-side. A big let-off for Brazil. Peru can hurt them with its speed. 
Rodrygo’s cross from the left-flank is turned away for a corner by the Peru defender. 
Brazil fails to take advantage of yet another set-piece situation. 
Peru forward Bryan Reyna gets a yellow card for his reckless challenge on Bruno Guimaraes.
Rodrygo is fouled by Cartagena just outside the box and Brazil has an early set piece to punish the visitors. 
The Real Madrid forward’s free-kick is blocked by the Peruvian wall. 
The hosts have early procession of the ball and is looking to make a fast start to the game.

Two players from local giant Botafogo rescued Brazil and coach Dorival Júnior from another embarrassment last Friday in a last-minute 2-1 victory at Chile in South American qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
