In a dramatic South American World Cup qualifier, Brazil managed only a 1-1 draw against Venezuela despite dominating for much of the match on Thursday.
Raphinha gave Brazil the lead with a brilliant left-footed free kick in the first half, but Venezuela equalized quickly after halftime with a stunning strike by Telasco Segovia. The match was intense, with both sides attempting to seize control until the very end.
Vinicius Jr had the chance to seal a victory for Brazil, but his missed penalty in the second half left Brazil fans disappointed. Venezuela played the final minutes with 10 men after Alexander Gonzalez’s dismissal for striking opponents, but still held on to secure a point. Brazil remains third in the qualifiers standings, trailing Argentina.
