The Colorado High School Activities Association’s all-state soccer team includes 48 players from the Boulder, Broomfield and Longmont areas.
Daily Camera player of the year Xander Sevian and Longmont Times-Call player of the year Aris Lindquist led the way.
F/MF Sevian was one of five players from the Boulder Valley School District to be named to Class 5A’s first team. He had the state’s fifth-most points at 74 (24 goals, 26 assists) and was joined on the top team by Broomfield MF Adam Thresher (11, six), D Cole Martin (five, five), GK Evan Kulstad (117 saves) and teammate F David Bojorquez (20, 11).
Second-teamers in 5A included Boulder MF Connor Sims and Broomfield D Evan Rea. The Eagles bounced the Panthers from the semifinals before falling to Cherry Creek in the finals.
In 4A, Silver Creek reached the semifinals with a win over Centaurus and were led in 2204 by first-teamer MF Kaden Riedel, who was named to the top team despite being injured for part of the season, as well second-team D Lindquist.
Centaurus MF Carter Ochsner (three goals, 19 assists) was the other local to be named to 4A’s first team. Niwot D Jay Scharfe was named to the second team.
Holy Family had four first teamers after winning the 3A title over Jefferson Academy, including 3A POY MF Jesus Molina (eight goals, nine assists), who scored the game-winning goal in the finals for the Tigers, and COY Ted Hansen. They were joined by first-teamers GK Joe Sullivan (134 saves), D Matt Napierkowski (nine, one) and Oliver Hansen (14, nine).
The Jaguars, who reached the title game in coach Matt Cassell’s return to the program, had first-teamers in MF Mason Spicer (17 goals, eight assists) and F Troy Brown (10, two). Peak to Peak also had two on the top team in MF Tyler Holman (six, 11) and MF Micah Thengvall (15, three).
Second-teamers in 3A included Holy Family MF Stefano Curto and Jefferson Academy’s GK Josh Neely, MF Luca Arroyo and D Xander Archuleta.
In 2A, Dawson’s Charlie Martin was named to the first team after having a state-most 46 goals and 12 assists.
Honorable mentions in 5A included Boulder’s D Logan Coughlan, MF/F Mikel Mackey, Broomfield’s F Joziah Garron Guillen, Erie’s MF/F Lennon Green, F Nathan Bigard, Fairview’s F Ben Ortman, D Mark Litwiler, Legacy’s MF Carlos DeLuna Villalpando and D Landon Sullivan.
Honorable mentions in 4A included Centaurus MF Giancarlo Sanchez Cirelli, MF Liam Dols, D Nate Lieberman, Longmont’s MF/D Max McKinney, MF/F Noah Chavarria, F Zander Salva, Niwot’s D Leo Broteland, D Will Gabrielson, Silver Creek’s D Maddox Koler Stage, F Rien Pacaro, MF Ryan Courtney and Skyline MF/F/D Angel Pereyra.
Honorable mentions in 3A were Peak to Peak D Zach Young and D Tyler Post. Dawson’s Finn Almond was an HM in 2A.
