Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid has revealed why the franchise decided to spend INR 1.10 crore for 13-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Rajasthan are known to invest in young players.
They have backed Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Dhruv Jurel in the past.
Dravid mentioned that Vaibhav, who hails from Bihar, attended the franchise trials, and the management decided to buy him in the auction. The former Indian head coach assured that RR would look after Suryavanshi.
“Suryavanshi has talent and skills, so we thought of buying him as he will get a good chance to grow as a batter at RR. Vaibhav was there in our trails, and he impressed everyone,” Dravid said.
The 13-year-old scored 104 runs off 62 balls in a Youth Test for India Under-19 against Australia U-19 in Chennai. He made his T20 debut for Bihar in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Rajasthan, managing 13 runs off 6 balls.
Raghuvanshi is from Samastipu and made his first-class debut at 12 years and 284 days against Mumbai in the last season of the Ranji Trophy. He was born during Team India’s successful campaign in the 2011 World Cup.
