With the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals over, Barça and Atlético continue the fight for a place in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. With 67 points, the red and white are six ahead of the Blaugrana, who have 61 and have more options to be one of the 32 players. At stake is an amount that would range between 25 and 70 million depending on the income of the competition and that would help balance the accounts. North America, Central America, and the Caribbean (4 clubs):
The winners of the Concacaf Champions Cup were Monterrey (Mexico) in 2021, Seattle Sounders (USA) in 2022, and Club León (Mexico) in 2023. The 2024 champion is yet to be determined.
Oceania (one club):
Auckland City (New Zealand).
South America (6 clubs):
CONMEBOL Libertadores winners: Palmeiras (Brazil) in 2021, Flamengo (Brazil) in 2022, Fluminense (Brazil) in 2023, and this year’s champion. Two spots are still open based on the points system.
Host country (one club):
It’s going to be a team from the United States that finishes off the list of 32.
