Eukarya Christian Academy 18-year-old senior
Sport: Soccer. Position: Midfielder
Parents: Cindy and David Obleas
Hometown: Winchester
What do you love about soccer?: I love the creativity of the sport. I love how much hard work it takes to get good or to even finish a game. I love my teammates and all of the fellowship moments we share together.
Most memorable moment in soccer: When I scored my first goal on the team, two of my teammates picked me up on their shoulders and they carried me off the field. That was my freshman year.
Most embarrassing moment in soccer:  When our goalie went to punt the ball, and it hit me square in the back, and it knocked the wind out of me. That was last year.
Most difficult moment in soccer: When we were at nationals [the NACA tournament in Dayton, Tenn.], and it was our final game. We were tied, and it went to penalty kicks. I was the last one to take a penalty kick, and I missed, and we lost. This was when I was a sophomore.
Three people you can have dinner with, dead or alive: God; because He can answer any of my questions that I would have. Julie Ertz; I love the way she plays soccer. When I was younger, I would watch her in the World Cups, and I always thought she was a great player. I would love to talk to her about her experiences winning World Cups. And Emma Stone; she’s my favorite actress, and I think she would be a really cool person to talk to.
Biggest athletic influence: Leo Messi. I think he’s the greatest player in the world. I think that any player can watch him and learn anything from him. He’s just really technical, and he always makes the right decision whether it’s passing or shooting.
Favorite teacher: My science teacher, Ms. Carole Hofmann. I had her for biology when I was a freshman, and she was just a really great teacher. She was always supportive. She inspired me to major in biology in college.
Favorite athlete: Lionel Messi
Favorite team: U.S. women’s national soccer team
Favorite movie: “La La Land”
Favorite TV show: “Gilmore Girls”
Favorite song: “3 Nights” by Dominic Fike
Favorite food: Any type of pasta. My mom makes homemade chicken Alfredo, and that’s probably my favorite.
Worst thing you’ve ever eaten: Potato salad.
Plans after high school: I’m going to James Madison University. I love biology because I love the study of living things, and I’m really passionate about preserving ecosystems and stuff like that. I think that’s really important.
