The Ashley girls soccer team will compete for an NCHSAA title for the second straight season tonight.
The Screaming Eagles (23-0-2) are looking to wipe away the agony of last spring’s state title loss in tonight’s NCHSAA 4A state championship vs. Marvin Ridge. The game is set to start at 7 p.m. from the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex in Matthews.
Ashley took down Marvin Ridge 5-1 in the Brittany Soccer Showcase tournament earlier this season. The Mavericks have lost just once in their last 17 games and are outscoring opponents 25-3 this postseason.
Ashley is fresh off a regional championship win over cross-town rival Hoggard and has allowed just 11 goals all season while scoring 137.
