Arkansas football has only played two quarters against Mississippi State, but the Hogs already have more points than they’ve scored in any SEC game this season.
The Razorbacks (4-3, 2-2 SEC) lead the Bulldogs (1-6, 0-4) 31-10 at halftime Saturday. Taylen Green is in the midst of his best performance as Arkansas’ starting quarterback, completing 14 of 17 passes for 195 yards and three touchdowns. Green also has 66 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.
The Hogs’ offensive line is dominating through two quarters in Patrick Kutas return to the starting unit. Mississippi State doesn’t have a sack, and Arkansas is averaging 9.6 yards per carry. True freshman Braylen Russell 48 yards on seven carries, taking over for the injured Ja’Quinden Jackson.
Luke Hasz, Jordan Anthony and Andreas Paaske all have receiving touchdowns for the Razorbacks.
Defensively, Arkansas is giving up yards but keeping Mississippi State out of the end zone. The Bulldogs have a missed field goal and Arkansas has a goal-line stand. Those two red zone stops have led to the lopsided score at halftime.
A win over Mississippi State would put Arkansas just one victory away from postseason eligibility.
Below are live score updates, key play and highlights from today’s game between the Hogs and Bulldogs.
Arkansas vs Mississippi State will broadcast on SEC Network in Week 9 of the 2024 college football season. Dave Neal and Aaron Murray will call the game from the booth at Davis Wade Stadium, with Ashley ShahAhmadi reporting from the sideline. Streaming options for the game include ESPN+, ESPN’s subscription streaming service, and FUBO, which offers a free trial to new subscribers.
Arkansas 31, Mississippi State 27. This feels like a good matchup for the Razorbacks. Arkansas should be able to get its running game going and have a good enough defensive performance to keep Van Buren in check. The Hogs will get one victory away from bowl-eligibility this weekend.
