The ASU vs Oklahoma State game is in a weather delay because of lightning in the area.
The game was moved up from a 4 p.m. MST kickoff to 12:30 p.m. kickoff in an attempt to beat the lightning and thunderstorms, but the game in Stillwater, Oklahoma has been suspended because of those issues.
They have emptied Boone Pickens Stadium of fans in the seating area as a precaution, with the scoreboard reading: “Thunderstorms with lightning are in the area and we are suspending play until further notice. If you are located in open air seating, proceed calmly to the area located under the stadium seating at this time.”
The NCAA’s lightning safety rules say: “To resume athletics activities, lightning safety experts recommend waiting 30 minutes after both the last sound of thunder and after the last flash of lightning is at least six miles away, and moving away from the venue. If lightning is seen without hearing thunder, lightning may be out of range and therefore less likely to be a significant threat. At night, be aware that lightning can be visible at a much greater distance than during the day as clouds are being lit from the inside by lightning. This greater distance may mean that the lightning is no longer a significant threat. At night, use both the sound of thunder and seeing the lightning channel itself to decide on when to reset the 30-minute return-to-play clock before resuming outdoor athletics activities.”
According to Big 12 rules, in the event of inclement weather continuing, the game could be called because Arizona State and Oklahoma State have played two quarters. If the game was called, ASU would win the game, 21-14, making that late touchdown in the first half very important for the Sun Devils.
It’s likely however, that the conference will do all it can to get the rest of this game in, if it can safely do so.
The Sun Devils have a 21-14 lead on the Cowboys at the half in Stillwater, thanks in large part to Cam Skattebo.
The ASU running back has 80 yards on 16 carries, with a 1-yard touchdown run.
He also has two catches for 61 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown reception.
Sam Leavitt is 12-for-18 for 198 yards, with two touchdown passes in his return from injury. His other TD was a 22-yard strike to Jordyn Tyson early in the first quarter.
Alan Bowman is 13-for-19 for 151 yards, with one touchdown pass and one pass intercepted for the Cowboys.
His TD pass was a 1-yard pass to Brennan Presley that tied the game, 7-7.
Oklahoma State also got a 2-yard touchdown run from Ollie Gordon II in the second quarter.
Oklahoma State, however, has only rushed for 16 yards on nine carries in this game.
ASU outgained OSU in the first half, 279-167 and had a time of possession edge of 18:40 to 11:20.
Oklahoma State will start the second half with the ball.

Javan Robinson just intercepted Alan Bowman at the ASU 48, our first turnover of the game.
But what happened after the play was even more interesting.
ASU’s Justin Wodtly received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and was ejected from the game.
The reason, according to the referee? For spitting on a player.
Yes, spitting.
Wodtly was furious about the call, arguing his case to coach Kenny Dillingham. The FOX broadcast did not have video of the play.
The kicking woes continue for the Sun Devils. Parker Lewis just missed a 47-yard field goal attempt that was wide right, leaving ASU without any points on its second possession of the game.
It was the first field goal attempt for Lewis since Dec. 4, 2021, when he played at USC.
ASU’s drive went for 59 yards over 11 plays and took 5:14 off the clock. Jordyn Tyson couldn’t hold on to a pass on 3rd & 8 for ASU, forcing the field goal attempt.
The Sun Devil defense forced Oklahoma State to punt after a 7-play, 23-yard drive, playing tough defense after allowing two first downs.
The Cowboys only gained one yard on three rushing attempts on the drive, a good early sign for Arizona State.
Welcome back, Sam Leavitt.
The ASU QB just connected on a 22-yard pass to Jordyn Tyson to give the Sun Devils a 7-0 lead over Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

A lot is on the line in Stillwater in this game.

As for Arizona State, a win for the Sun Devils would be their sixth of the season. Why is that important?
They would become bowl eligible with the sixth win. That would be a huge accomplishment for a team that was picked to finish last in the Big 12 Conference this season and for a team that went 3-9 in each of the past two seasons.
Sam Leavitt is set to return at quarterback for ASU against Oklahoma State after missing the Sun Devils’ loss to Cincinnati with an injury he suffered against Utah.

Will we see Ian Hershey, Carston Kieffer or Parker Lewis as the placekicker against the Cowboys? All three were out on the field in warm ups, according to The Arizona Republic’s Michelle Gardner.
There hasn’t been any rain yet in Stillwater for the game, but it is overcast at Boone Pickens Stadium.
