It wouldn’t be a rivalry game without some tension, right?
The end of the Arizona State vs Arizona Territorial Cup game Saturday certainly had some when an Arizona State player attempted to plant a pitchfork on the middle of the Arizona Stadium field in Tucson after the Sun Devils’ 49-7 win over the Wildcats.
FOX Sports caught the player, junior defensive lineman Jacob Rich Kongaika, attempting to stab the pitchfork into the turf field.
Kongaika was quickly met by Arizona players, including Montana Lemonious-Craig, and a brief scuffle ensued before coaches broke it up.
What makes it all the more interesting is that Kongaika played for the Wildcats in 2022 and 2023 before transferring to Arizona State. He recovered a fumble against ASU in the Wildcats’ win over ASU in Tempe last season.

Arizona running back Quali Conley called the move “disrespectful” and “uncalled for” after the game in video taken by the Arizona Daily Star.
ASU running back Cam Skattebo had a much different reaction to the situation in video captured by PHNX Sports, saying “I didn’t know that happened but that’s awesome.”
Sports360AZ caught another angle of the incident, showing more of the aftermath of the altercation.
The Territorial Cup rivalry continues.
