Another defensive tackle transfer to visit Michigan football – GBMWolverine

Michigan football isn't finished adding players from the transfer portal just yet. The Wolverines have landed four defensive backs from the portal since Thursday, but another name has emerged that U-M fans will want to know.
That's 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive tackle Brandon Lane. The former Stephen F. Austin standout, entered the transfer portal after his sophomore season and was committed to Michigan State.
In early May, the Spartans and Lane parted ways. He's visited North Carolina State since then, while Wisconsin is also in the mix according to Pete Nakos of On3.com. The Wolverines and Badgers are both expected to get visits from Lane, who had 44 tackles and 6.5 tackles for loss last season in 12 starts.
Michigan has been telling us that they need another defensive tackle, just look at their pursuits of CJ West and Jay'viar Suggs. I'm pleased they have identified another fit though in Lane who is known for being stout against the run.
With Kenneth Grant, Mason Graham, and even Rayshaun Benny, Michigan football has a lot of snaps accounted for. But it's going to need another guy to take on double teams and keep Grant/Graham fresh. As good as they are, they can't play every snap and you need a guy who can fill in.
Lane might be that dude. He also has two years of eligibility, so Michigan football could sell him on the chance to be a potential starter in the future.

But cornerback and defensive tackle are two positions where you don't want to be thin and that's why adding Lane would be another key pickup in the spring transfer portal for Michigan football.
