OCALA, Florida, Dec. 12, 2024–Anna Marek rode her World Cup mount Fayvel to victory in the World Equestrian Center CDI3* Grand Prix Thursday, the first international event for the partnership since returning from Europe in summer.
Anna of the area community of Dunnellon and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding scored 70.022% for the win.
Anna, short-listed for the Paris Olympic team on Fire Fly, said she is aiming this year for the newly created $250,000 U.S. Open, with qualifiers across the country for the final in California next December.
She started to ride Fayvel full-time a year ago.
“It just takes time to kind of go in there and make it feel like it’s easy and I can kind of think and go through things the best that he can do,” Anna said. “So today, the things that I was working on, it worked. And, you know, of course there’s always places where you want to do better, but overall I was really happy with him today.”
Tina Konyot of Wellington, Florida on Grover, 10-year-old KWPN gelding, was runner-up on 69.478% in the pair’s fourth international Grand Prix event since moving up from Medium Tour early this year.
