The second edition of the ICC Under 19 Women’s T20 World Cup is all set to get underway in Malaysia on 18 January 2025. The inaugural edition of the competition was held in South Africa in 2023. Overall, 16 nations will be vying for the prestigious title over 41 matches this time. Four venues in Malaysia will be hosting the matches at the showpiece event this time. Six matches are scheduled to be held on the opening day of the competition. Teams have been divided into four groups with each comprising four countries. India have been pooled in Group A along with teams like Malaysia, Sri Lanka and West Indies. The final will take place on February 2 at the Bayuemas Oval in Pandamaran.
The Indian cricket team had emerged victorious in the maiden edition of the ICC Under 19 Women’s T20 World Cup. India will kick off their title defence with a match against West Indies on January 19. The Indian side will play under the leadership of Niki Prasad in the competition. India’s group-stage matches will be played at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur
As the ICC Under 19 Women’s T20 World Cup is all set to start, we take a look at the key details about the tournament.
Group A: India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, West Indies
Group B: England, Ireland, Pakistan, USA
Group C: New Zealand, Nigeria, Samoa, South Africa
Group D: Australia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Scotland
Teams will face each other once in the group. The top three sides from each group will qualify for the Super Six League stage. The top two teams from each Super Six League will reach the semi-finals.
The upcoming edition of the ICC Under 19 Women’s T20 World Cup will start on January 18. The Super Six stage is set to start from January 25. The two semi-finals are scheduled to take place on January 31, while the summit clash will be played out on February 2.
