This is the 2024 The Daily News All-Area Boys’ Soccer Team, a list of the area’s best high school players placed together by position from this past season. Coaches were able to nominate their own players first or second team.
James McCargo, Croatan: The senior goalkeeper made 129 saves, allowed 45 goals and recorded a 1.875 goals against average with six shutouts as the Cougars went 13-9-3 overall and won the Coastal Conference title at 7-2-1.
Nate Dozier, Northside: The junior defender was 3-A All-State after he was the top defensive player for the Monarchs, who had six shutouts and went 10-12-2 overall and made the state 3-A playoffs. He also had eight goals and three assists.
Chase Grogg, Swansboro: The senior defender is first-team all-area for the second consecutive year after he was the top defensive player for the Pirates, who had seven shutouts and who went 11-9-4 overall and made the state 3-A playoffs. He also had nine goals and four assists.
Ryan Hanks, Jacksonville: The junior defender was a key defensive cog for the Cardinals, who recorded eight clean sheets and who went 17-6-2 overall and advanced to the third round of the state 3-A playoffs. He also had six goals and two assists.
Tyler Thorpe, Croatan: The junior defender stepped up to become the primary defensive player for the Cougars, who allowed one or fewer goals 10 times. He also had one goal and one assist.
Landon Adams, Jacksonville: The senior midfielder was 3-A All-State after he tallied 12 goals and 20 assists as the Cardinals sported a 10-game winning streak entering the third round of the playoffs.
Jaden Hilliard, Croatan: The senior midfielder was 3-A All-State for the second consecutive season and first-team all-area for the second straight year after he had 26 goals and nine assists to help the Cougars win a fifth consecutive conference title.
Haydon Huddleston, Jacksonville: The senior midfielder was 3-A All-State after he recorded 16 goals and 13 assists to help the Cardinals win a conference title for the eighth consecutive season.
Kannon McBride, Croatan: The sophomore midfielder tallied 21 goals and 15 assists against a difficult schedule to make the first team after he was second team last year.
Aidan Teller, Dixon: The sophomore midfielder was 3-A All-State after he had 28 goals and 21 assists to help the Bulldogs finish 17-10 overall and advance to the third round of the state 3-A playoffs. He is first team after he was second team last year.
Isaiah Betton, Richlands: The sophomore forward was 3-A All-State after he tallied 18 goals and seven assists to help the Wildcats go 11-10-1 overall and make the state 3-A playoffs. He is first team after he made second team last season.
Tanner Farner, White Oak: The senior forward was 3-A All-State and first-team all-area for the second consecutive year after he compiled 30 goals and 11 assists to help the Vikings go 11-10-4 overall and advance to the second round of the state 3-A playoffs.
Cade Hodnefield, Jacksonville: The senior forward recorded 13 goals and eight assists to help the Cardinals go 11-1 in the Big Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference.
