In Kalen DeBoer’s first season with Alabama football, he had one of the most expensive staffs in college football at his disposal.
According to the USA Today assistant coach salary database, Alabama paid its 10 assistant coaches $9,475,000, fourth-highest in college football behind Ohio State, Georgia and Clemson.
In 2023, Alabama paid its assistant coaches $9,170,000.
In 2024, Alabama had four coaches who made more than $1 million: defensive coordinator Kane Wommack, offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan, wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator JaMarcus Shephard and defensive line coach Freddie Roach.

Alabama paid strength and conditioning coach David Ballou $950,000 in 2024, giving him a $225,000 raise after 2023.
Ballou is the second highest-paid strength and conditioning coach in the country behind Oklahoma State’s Rob Glass at $1.1 million.
In the SEC, 34 assistant coaches made at least $1 million in 2024, including four Crimson Tide coaches: Roach, Shephard, Sheridan and Wommack.

DeBoer made $10 million in 2024. He is one of six college football coaches to make more than $10 million in 2024 along with Georgia’s Kirby Smart, Clemson’s Dabo Swinney, Texas’ Steve Sarkisian, USC’s Lincoln Riley, Ohio State’s Ryan Day and Florida State’s Mike Norvell.
