FIFA titles may be getting a revival soon.
It seems that the FIFA title will return sooner rather than later in the form of FIFA 2K25. For many football video game fans, the iconic FIFA title held a special place. When EA and FIFA announced their split, many were left with a deep hole in their hearts and EA Sports FC couldn’t feel the void.
According to the latest rumor, 2K Games, the name behind such popular sports titles as NBA 2K and WWE 2K has secured the official FIFA license and FIFA 2K25 is launching this year in October.
This isn’t the first time we have heard about a potential FIFA and Take-Two Interactive collaboration. Rumors about the FIFA 2K25 first appeared back in February when a leaker teased that 2K was working on the new FIFA football video game.
This information suggests that development might have started earlier than the rumors surfaced. With that in mind, a potential October release is not entirely out of the question. 2K Games has a strong track record in the sports genre.

The NBA 2K franchise is a leader in basketball simulation games, heavily praised for its gameplay, detailed player customization, and online features that keep on giving. Next in line is the WWE 2K series that perfectly captures the spectacle of the ring and over-the-top action of the sport.
It wouldn’t be fair to neglect the revival of Top Spin which came out earlier this year, and the PGA Tour 2K, among other titles from 2K Games.
The news of a potential FIFA 2K25 is not a huge surprise as 2K Games is perfectly capable of delivering a worthy opponent to EA FC. Fans are buzzing with positive remarks on the leaked information.
Many fans just hope for better gameplay than seen in recent EA FC games, while players also want some exclusivity, with a fan saying “I would love for all nations to be included. It has been ten years since we all had a game with all of them included.”
Now EA is going to have big competition
Moreover, another fan has said that he expects “2k25 will bang!! EA in trouble.” While fan optimism is high there are a few things to worry about before the game is official. For instance, 2K has no prior experience when it comes to making football video games, so will they be able to compete with an established giant such as EA Sports?
Furthermore, licensing can also be a big issue, not to mention the tight deadline. According to leaked information, FIFA 2K25 will be released in October this year, which complements the rich history of FIFA games coming out in the fall.
What are your thoughts on this? Will 2K Games be able to compete with the likes of EA Sports and deliver the experience football fans want? Let us know in the comments.
