CASPER, Wyo. — On Monday, the Kelly Walsh High School girls soccer team won the praise of the Natrona County School District Board of Trustees for winning the state championship for 2024.
Much of the Lady Trojans team, coached by Jerry Realing, appeared before the trustees during their regular meeting at the district’s Central Services Facility, 970 N. Glenn Road.
For some of the 4-A team members, the championship marked their second consecutive victory after having won the state championship in 2023 as well, Realing said.
During the season, the team went to Alabama to test Wyoming against other teams in the nation, he said.
The KWHS team played three teams from Oklahoma and played well, even though it didn’t win any games with two ties and one loss, Realing said. “It set the stage for a pretty special year.”
Overall in the 2023–24 season, the Lady Trojans won 14 games, lost four and tied two.
They also avenged a regional loss against the team from Jackson Hole by winning the state championship.
“These girls were integral in making that happen; representing themselves, their school and ultimately the Natrona County School District well,” Realing said.
