The Warriors of Zimbabwe have made coaching changes ahead of their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and South Africa.

Jairos Tapera will take charge of the Warriors in interim capacity.
“Given that our World Cup qualifiers versus Lesotho and South Africa are imminent, the delay in the conclusion of this appointment has necessitated the appointment of an interim coaching team that will take charge of our two FIFA World Cup qualifiers as well as the COSAFA Senior Men’s Tournament that starts immediately after these qualifiers,” the Zimbabwe Football Federation aid in a statement, as per SNL24.

“Therefore, the ZIFA Normalisation Committee is pleased to announce the appointment, on an interim basis of: Jairos Tapera – Head Coach; Takesure Chiragwi – Assistant Coach; Saul Chaminuka – Assistant Coach; Sunday Chidzambwa – Technical Advisor.”
Zimbabwe will host Lesotho in a matchday three encounter at the Orlando Stadium, Johannesburg on Friday, June 7.
They will confront South Africa in Blomfeintein four days later.

Part of the odds stacked against us, which our myopic NFF and SE coach are not even considering is the advantage SA has over us of playing “away” matches against Zimbabwe and Lesotho there at home in South Africa, in addition to their own 5 home matches in the series.
Yet we aren’t even giving the qualifiers the level of seriousness our current precarious situation demands.
