Victor Osimhen will miss Nigeria‘s coming two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers due to injury, the Nigeria Football Federation announced on Tuesday.
The federation gave no details about the injury but said the 25-year-old Napoli striker would be out for four weeks.
Osimhen will miss the matches against South Africa in Uyo on June 7 and Benin in neutral Ivory Coast three days later.
His absence adds a curveball for recently appointed head coach Finidi George as he bids to get the Super Eagles’ qualification campaign back on track after surprise 1-1 draws with Lesotho at home and Zimbabwe in neutral Rwanda.
