Super Eagles and Napoli’s forward, Victor Osimhen had been ruled out of the Nigerian squad set to face South Africa and Benin Republic in the World Cup qualifying matches due to an injury.
The announcement was made by the Nigeria Football Federation via the Super Eagles official Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter) pages today, May 28, 2024.
The official statement read, “Camp update: Africa Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen is injured and out for 4 weeks. Super Eagles’ Coach Finidi George has called up Enugu Rangers’ left back Kenneth Igboke for the WC qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Rep.”

However, new head coach Finidi George has called up Enugu Ranger’s player, Kenneth Igboke to replace Osimhen. 
On June 7, Nigeria’s Super Eagles will play South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in Uyo, Akwa Ibom. On June 10, they will travel to Benin Republic for an away match.
