Will there be a FIFA 25? Everything we know about the potential EA FC 25 rival – The Mirror

FIFA is aiming to release its own football game to compete with the EA Sports FC series
Right now, EA Sports FC is dominating the football game market, but FIFA has told us to "get ready" with its rival football game reportedly in development.
EA Sports and FIFA went their separate ways after calling it quits on their 30-year partnership two years ago. Both EA and FIFA promised us new football games, with EA sticking to its word with the EA Sports FC series being released, and as we approach the release of its second instalment, EA FC 25, we're still yet to receive anything from FIFA.
it's very much advantage EA right now, with the majority of FIFA 23 players – the last game made by both EA and FIFA – transitioning over to EA FC 24. And, despite a plethora of issues and errors arising in-game over the last nine months, the same player base is set to move onto EA FC 25 in a few months, so when will a rival to EA Sports FC hit the market?
FIFA president Gianni Infantino has presented us with two updates on the development of a FIFA game since the split with EA was announced, so, will there be a FIFA 25?
In short, we don't know when, or if, FIFA 25 will be released. At the FIFA Congress in Bangkok, Infantino said FIFA "will develop" a new game before announcing "We are developing new partners and a new game", leaving fans scratching their heads as to how far into the development process they are. FIFA has also yet to announce a publisher or developer for its future game.
When EA and FIFA split, we expected both to go head to head in the football gaming market, with fans excited over the idea of having two great football games to choose from. But, the Lionel Messi versus Cristiano Ronaldo battle of the football gaming world remains on hold, with FIFA 25 yet to exist.
Infantino name-dropped FIFA 25, along with FIFA 26, FIFA 27, and FIFA 27 when discussing the future of the game last year, so this makes us think that there won't be any drastic change to the name of the game. But, if rumours of a FIFA and 2K partnership (according to Insider Gaming) are true, the game could be called FIFA 2k25 instead.
The prospect of a new FIFA game is really intriguing. Not only will it be fun to try out a new football game with new developers, but the idea of EA Sports FC having proper competition for the first time in a long time is genuinely exciting. The sooner FIFA 25, or whatever it will be called, is released, the better.
