The Kenya Under 17 girls’ soccer team or Ethiopia will face Burundi in the fourth and final round of the FIFA U17 women’s world cup qualifiers in June this year.
Burundi sailed through after they beat Djibouti 25-0 on aggregate in the return leg of the third round which was played in Ethiopia.
Kenya also hopes to advance against Ethiopia this Sunday at Ulinzi compex.
Djibouti had lost 18-0 during the first leg at home and could not overturn the deficit succumbing to a 7-0 second leg loss on Wednesday to bow out 25-0 on aggregate. Kenya is set to host Ethiopia in their reverse fixture on Sunday at Ulinzi Sports Complex after a goalless draw in Addis Ababa last Friday.
The winner will advance to the final round of the qualifiers where six teams will contest three slots allocated for Africa at the FIFA U17 women’s world cup final. The other teams in contention for a place in the fourth round are Morocco who lead Algeria by 4-0, Uganda who will also host Zambia tomorrow seeking to overturn a 2-0 first leg deficit and Senegal who beat Liberia 3-1 in the first leg.
The FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup final is scheduled from 10th October to 3rd November this year in the Dominican Republic.
