After three years of rebuilding the Trinity football program, head coach Jordan Hill has resigned from his post.
PennLive’s Eric Epler first reported the news Wednesday morning. No reason for stepping down was provided.
Trinity athletic director Alanna Stuart confirmed the resignation to PennLive Tuesday. Hill, also the school’s director of advancement, resigned last week, according to Stuart, and met with the team Monday.
Hill, a former All-Big Ten defensive tackle at Penn State and Super Bowl champion with the Seattle Seahawks, inherited a Shamrock team that went 0-7 during the 2020 season and hadn’t had a winning season since 2013. Under Hill’s watch, Trinity morphed into a state contender, going 21-15 in three seasons and capturing the District 3 Class 2A title in 2022. The Shamrocks advanced to the PIAA semifinals the same year for the first time in program history.
“(It’s about) continued growth and continued learning of football. I think that’s the major thing,” Hill said in a 2022 interview with The Sentinel. “I can see it’s starting to come together, between that and just overall the cohesiveness of the football team. They’re becoming a team. They’re not just individual players.”
Trinity went 8-4 last fall and returned to the District 3 title game where it fell to crosstown rival Camp Hill, 20-13.
Hill had Mid-Penn ties prior to his arrival at Trinity. He was a 2009 graduate of Steelton-Highspire and helped the Rollers to a pair of state championships. Hill also spent a year as Cumberland Valley’s defensive line coach — under head coach Josh Oswalt — before the Trinity hire.
Mike Mauti, Hill’s associate head coach last season and former teammate at Penn State, was announced as the Nittany Lions’ associate director of development for intercollegiate athletics Monday.

“Football is one of the greatest life lessons,” Jordan Hill said. “It’s taught me about life. The biggest thing is, now that I’m coaching, I have all this knowledge from all the different places I’ve played, the different coaches I’ve played for, that I will be able to pass down.”
