Toppenish boys soccer beats Wapato in shootout for state bid – Yakima Herald-Republic

The Toppenish boys soccer team is going to the state playoffs for the 11th time.
The Wildcats outlasted rival Wapato 2-1 in a shootout in the SCAC district consolation semifinals with a state bid on the line on Friday at Toppenish. 
Luis Ramos scored Toppenish’s lone goal in regulation, finding the net 30 minutes into the first half. 
The Wildcats will be joined at state by Highland, which beat Mabton 8-1 to earn a third-straight state berth.
They’ll find out their first-round matchup on Sunday when pairings are announced by the WIAA, but first they’ll play a consolation final on Saturday that could be key for state seeding.
Toppenish seventh in the RPI, one spot ahead of Highland. The top eight seeds, as determined by the seeding committee, will receive a home game in the first round. The league rivals split their pair of regular-season matchups.

CWAC District
SELAH 13, ELLENSBURG 3: At Selah, Laci Ross doubled twice and drove in a pair as the Vikings (6-13) opened district play with a win. 
Ellensburg (6-15) will face elimination against the loser of East Valley-Ephrata at East Valley on Saturday.
In other action, Prosser was no-hit in a 14-0 loss to Ephrata. the Mustangs will play the loser of Selah-Othello on Saturday in a loser-out contest.

WEST VALLEY 10, KITTITAS 8: At West Valley, Ashleigh James singled, doubled, scored and drove in a run as the Rams snapped the Coyotes’ 14-game win streak to close the regular season. They’ll start district play next week.
Elysa Nash had a monster game for Kittitas (15-2), falling a single shy of the cycle with four RBI and three runs scored. The Coyotes, who’ve already clinched an EWAC West crown, will close league play at White Swan on Friday.
