Japan attacker Takefusa Kubo scored his fourth goal of the Spanish La Liga season as Real Sociedad defeated visiting Villarreal 1-0 on Monday.
Kubo broke the deadlock six minutes into the second half at the Reale Arena, heading down a long ball from Mikel Oyarzabal near the center of the pitch before completing his solo effort with a shot into the far corner.
“I kept calm and moved the ball to the left, which is easier for me to take a shot,” the 23-year-old said of the goal. “Things went exactly how I wanted.”
Kubo was substituted with seven minutes remaining.
Sociedad next play Rayo Vallecano in the Copa del Rey round of 16 on two days’ rest.
“I’ll try to rest well and help the team win again,” Kubo said.
