ARLINGTON — Texas Longhorns wide receiver Matthew Golden left for the locker room in the second quarter of Friday’s College Football Playoff semifinal against Ohio State, according to the ESPN broadcast.
He returned to the sideline not wearing a helmet and did not take the field with the Texas offense for its subsequent drive.
Golden had been in the injury tent once before departing the playing field, briefly returning to commit a facemask penalty.

Golden made a spectacular catch on Texas’ first drive of the Cotton Bowl, reeling in a 24-yard, one-handed catch from quarterback Quinn Ewers.
He entered Friday as the Longhorns‘ leading receiver, with 936 yards and nine touchdowns on the season. Texas already appears to be working with a limited Isaiah Bond, who is on his way back from an ankle injury.
