SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Notre Dame men’s soccer midfielder/defender Jacob Bartlett has signed his first professional contract with MLS club Sporting KC following his freshman season in South Bend.
“We are all thrilled for Jacob as he embarks on this next exciting chapter of his journey,” said McFarland Family Head Men’s Soccer Coach Chad Riley. “While we are certainly sad that our time with him at Notre Dame was brief, we are incredibly proud of all that he has accomplished and the opportunity he now has with Sporting KC. Jacob will always be a part of the Notre Dame family, and we look forward to following his success and cheering him on every step of the way.”
Bartlett signs with Sporting KC as a Homegrown Player after his fall at Notre Dame. Prior to his brief collegiate career, Bartlett spent time the the Sporting KC Academy, competing at the U-12 through U-19 levels, and representing Sporting KC II as an amateur player during the 2023 and 2024 MLS NEXT Pro seasons.
The freshman played in 16 games this past fall with the Fighting Irish, scoring the game-winning goal on the road at Louisville. Ahead of the 2024 college soccer season, TopDrawerSoccer tabbed Bartlett a top-50 prospect nationally and the No. 2 player in the Heartland Region.
Bartlett has signed a three-year MLS contract through 2027 with club options in 2028 and 2029.
