Sulley Muntari, ex Black Stars midfielder play videoSulley Muntari, ex Black Stars midfielder
Former Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari holds no grudges against anyone following the controversy that erupted at Ghana’s camp during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Muntari, alongside Kevin-Prince Boateng, was sacked from the camp as Ghana prepared to play their third group game. Chaos erupted when players threatened to boycott the match, demanding their appearance fees. Reports allege that Muntari hit a staff member during the turmoil.

However, the former Inter Milan midfielder, who was at the centre of the incident, addressed the matter during an Instagram live session with his fans. While acknowledging the severity of the situation, he called on his fans to move past it.

“What happened in Brazil was something, but we should just let it go and move forward because what’s ahead of us is important, not what’s behind. So we should always be happy and move forward,” he said.

The incident marked the end of his time with the Black Stars, as he never featured again for the four-time African champions.

Muntari officially announced his retirement from football in November 2022 after a short spell with Ghanaian club Hearts of Oak. He played 80 matches for Ghana, scoring 20 goals in the process.
