A special Presidential Committee to be known as the Presidential Support Group (PSG) that will ensure the Super Eagles qualify for the 2026 World Cup is to be announced this week, officials told SCORENigeria
The PSG will provide solid financial, administrative and logistical support for the Super Eagles to turn around the country’s tottering 2026 World Cup hopes.
A Presidential Task Force salvaged Nigeria’s 2010 World Cup hopes.
The appointment of Eric Chelle Tuesday as new Super Eagles coach has got the ball rolling in Nigeria’s quest to feature at the biggest-ever FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico next year.
Nigeria are second from bottom of their qualifying group with three points from their first four matches.
They resume the qualifying campaign in March with an away tie in Rwanda followed by a home game against bottom team Zimbabwe.
It would be recalled that Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma is expected to head this committee with top government officials and several captains on industry to support him as members.
