Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool is under intense speculation.
Reports from Spain (via MARCA) suggest the 26-year-old right-back has informed the club he won’t renew his contract, which expires in the summer, and plans to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
Alexander-Arnold, a product of Liverpool’s famed academy, has been a key player in the team’s recent success. But sources claim he is eager to take on a new challenge in Madrid, where he could link up with England teammate Jude Bellingham.
The allure of playing for the reigning Champions League holders and the opportunity for personal growth seem to be driving his decision.

Liverpool would prefer to keep Alexander-Arnold for the rest of the season rather than sell him in January.
His presence is seen as vital for the team’s pursuit of silverware this season. However, his impending departure raises questions about how the Reds will replace such an influential figure.
The decision hasn’t come without criticism. Former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher recently warned Alexander-Arnold of the risks of leaving.
Carragher emphasized that staying at Anfield could solidify his legacy as one of the club’s greatest players, second only to Steven Gerrard. He also highlighted fans’ concerns over losing a key player without financial compensation.
For Alexander-Arnold, the move to Real Madrid might align with his ambition to win the Ballon d’Or — an honor that no right-back has ever claimed.
Critics, however, question whether leaving Liverpool for free is the best way to achieve such lofty goals.
