Inter Milan have reportedly decided to accelerate their attempts to sign Joshua Zirkzee, but this may not impact the future of Marcus Thuram at the club.
The Dutch striker has taken Serie A by storm this season, spearheading Bologna’s incredible charge towards a Champions League berth.
The 22-year-old has naturally earned himself many suitors in the process, both from Italy and abroad.
But according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri are serious in their attempts to sign Zirkzee.
The newly-crowned Italian champions are ready to go all-in for the former Bayern Munich youngster.
However, signing the versatile striker won’t be an easy task for Inter, as Bologna are requesting 60 million euros.
But as the pink newspaper tells it, the Nerazzurri directors will be looking to play the youngsters card. The source names three players who could help Inter succeed in this mission.
The first is Valentin Carboni who has been one of the revelations of the Serie A campaign. The 19-year-old is spending his campaign on loan at Monza and has already made his senior debut for Argentina.
Inter would be looking to collect 30 million euros from his sale, with Atalanta and Fiorentina interested in his services.
Then we have Giovanni Fabbian who made the switch to Bologna last summer. Inter still have a buy-back option valid in 2025, but would be willing to relinquish it in favor of a discount on Zirkzee.
Finally, young goalkeeper Filip Stankovic reportedly has suitors in France. The Serbian is currently on loan at Sampdoria.
On another note, the source insists that Zirkzee’s arrival shouldn’t necessarily come at Thuram’s expense.
The Frenchman has a buyout clause set at 85 million euros. So if a suitor decides to trigger it, the striker would have to decide his future.
But otherwise, Inter have no plans to offer any discounts on this figure, as they look to maintain the 26-year-old.
