The other game going on Monday will take place in a much colder part of the country: Northern Illinois will take on Fresno State on the “Smurf Turf” in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
As noted by USA Today’s Eddie Timanus, both the Huskies and Bulldogs have faced notable roster turnovers since the NCAA transfer portal opened up on Dec. 8. NIU and Fresno State will start backup quarterbacks in Monday’s Idaho Potato Bowl, as Ethan Hampton and Mikey Keene both entered the portal. Josh Holst is expected to start Monday for NIU, while Joshua Wood and Jayden Mandal are expected to split time for Fresno State.
