The Cleveland Soccer Group appears to be coming up short in bringing a professional women’s team to the city.
The group submitted a bid earlier this year to the National Women’s Soccer League as the organization looks to expand.
Reports say the league is now in exclusive talks to put a team in Denver.
The Cleveland Soccer Group has released a statement saying that Cleveland will not be the 16th team in the NWSL but that they are exploring all paths to make women’s pro soccer in Northeast Ohio a reality.
