The New York Giants select LSU’s top receiver: Malik Nabers immediately comes in as the Giants’ WR1 for the 2024 season and beyond.
Questions at quarterback should temper expectations for the rookie: At least in 2024, Nabers will likely be the clear top player on the Giants offense and will have to wait for better quarterback play to deliver on his high-end fantasy potential.

Malik Nabers was drafted sixth overall by the New York Giants in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Giants receiving options have been unreliable, to say the least, over the past few seasons without a 1,000-year receiver since 2018. With Nabers’ high-end ability and alpha receiver potential, it shouldn’t be too long before that streak ends.
Nabers is one of three wide receivers in this draft who is a safe bet to step into an elite target-earner role in whichever offense he landed on — getting drafted by the Giants isn’t going to change that. Nabers commanded an impressive 26.7% target share, 2,585 yards and 17 receiving touchdowns over the past two seasons at LSU as, No. 2 overall pick in this year’s draft, Jayden Daniels’ No. 1 wide receiver.
The Giants’ quarterback situation is not ideal for the best fantasy potential for the exciting receiver out of LSU, but there should be no question that he is going to emerge as the top receiving option in that offense immediately. There wasn’t much fantasy production coming out of New York in 2023, and depending on when Daniel Jones is back healthy — unlikely to be the start of the year — expect Nabers to carry the offense for a while until things become more stable for the Giants offense, whether it’s later this season or beyond.
Nabers already does everything at an extremely high level for a young prospect and with question marks quarterback, he might not push for a 1,000-yard season as a rookie but should earn plenty of targets to help produce for fantasy purposes. Considering the offense, Nabers is likely to be more of a WR3 for the 2024 season. For dynasty purposes, he shouldn’t be worse than a WR2 with hopes that things will get better around him in New York down the road to support his elite upside.
