Nebraska football is reportedly getting some new coaches.
Matt Rhule announced John Butler, who will serve as the Huskers’ defensive coordinator for the Pinstripe Bowl, is being promoted to full time defensive coordinator.

Matt Rhule had previously said Butler was “definitely a candidate for the job.”
“John Butler has been a great addition to our staff this season and has proven he is the right coach to lead our defense,” Rhule said. “John has previous success as a defensive coordinator in the Big Ten Conference and has a history of coaching elite defenses throughout his career.”
“I appreciate the confidence Coach Rhule has shown in me to lead the Blackshirts!,” Butler said. “I knew Nebraska was a special place before I got here, but it is better than I imagined. I look forward to our continued work with our players to develop them on and off the field. The Blackshirt tradition is one of the best in college football, and we are committed to playing great defense at Nebraska.”
Butler has been serving as the secondary coach for the Huskers and pass game coordinator this season.
Prior to, he spent 20 years coaching college football, including at Harvard, South Carolina, and Penn State, among others.
Butler was the defensive backs and passing game coordinator for the Buffalo Bills, and he also spent time with the Houston Texans.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel is reporting Nebraska will hire Phil Snow as the associate head coach.
Snow has a long history with Rhule.
He has been the defensive coordinator at Baylor for three seasons, arriving with Rhule after working with him at Temple.

During his 36 years in college football, Snow has also coached at UCLA, Washington, Arizona State, and Boise State.
He also spent some time in the NFL working with the Detroit Lions.
Snow was twice a Broyles Award nominee for his work at Temple. He authored consistently strong defenses while with Rhule at Baylor, Temple and Carolina.
Thamel reported Husker football is set to hire Kansas City Chiefs’ assistant defensive line coach as Nebraska’s defensive line coach.
Terry Bradden has been with the Chiefs for eight seasons, four of which were as the assistant defensive line coach.
Prior to, he was the defensive quality control coach from 2018 to 2020 and one season of a defensive assistant in 2017.
Before he came to the Chiefs, he was the quarterback graduate assistant at Bethune Cookman University.
Bradden also played quarterback for three seasons at Howard University before transferring to Tuskegee University to play the same position.
He's also a former head high school coach in Florida and worked in 2014 at FAU. He's a former Howard QB.
