From the time it was first announced as a concept, the 12-team College Football Playoff has existed as a curiosity. After 10 years of a four-team playoff, what might the event look like when the field triples in size?
We’ll get an answer soon enough.
This weekend, and after weeks and months of never-ending speculation and projections, the playoff selection committee will reveal their final rankings of the 2024 college football season and keep the national championship dreams of 12 programs alive — while crushing the hopes of a handful of others who just miss out on the field.
There’s only so much of a mystery with who will fill some of the available spots.
After winning their conference championship games, Arizona State, Boise State, Georgia, Oregon and Clemson are effectively guaranteed a playoff berth. Penn State and Ohio State appear to be locks out of the Big Ten. The same goes for Texas and Tennessee out of the SEC.
Who will earn those precious final handful of spots is the biggest question in college football right now, one that will get an answer in mere hours. Here’s what you need to know about the final playoff rankings reveal, including time, TV channel, how to watch, streaming information and more:
