The Belize National Cricket Team is headed to Argentina to compete in a sub-regional tournament. The team will be playing in the high-stakes ICC AMÉRICAS Men’s T20 World Cup sub-regional qualifiers. Belize is one of nine teams competing for a chance to represent the region in the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in Sri Lanka and India. Fifteen players, along with coach Michael Sobers and team manager Dr. Roy Young, departed today for the event, which will run from December 6 to 16. Dr. Young, who is also the president of the Belize National Cricket Association, noted that, to date, this is the highest level of competition Belize has participated in.
The teams participating in the tournament are Argentina, Bahamas, Belize, Bermuda, Brazil, Cayman Islands, Mexico, Panama, and Suriname. Belize’s first game is against Mexico on Friday at 11:30 a.m.
