On Sunday, November 17, the third-grade boys championship match was set between St. Francis De Sales and Our Lady of Grace. The game was set to be quite the match up with both teams entering the finals with stellar season performances.
OLG struck first and held the 1-0 lead going into the half. During halftime, the coaches gave the boys a pep talk, which pumped them up and they started the second half with a quick goal scored by Peter Mosiello. The defense was on point for SFDS with Henry Wilson, J.J. Wiederhold, Sean O’Grady and Timmy Welsh, in goal, shutting OLG down, holding the score to 1-1 when the final whistle blew.
The ten-minute overtime rule came into effect and SFDS was ready. As soon as OT kicked off, the offense was a blazing. The offensive line of Eamonn Egan, Timmy Briggs, Liam Gatto and Gio Shakir resulted in assists for goals scored by Brian Kelly and Kenny Sirgiovanni leading the boys to a 3-1 victory to claim the 2024 third grade “Chip”!
