Negaunee’s Paul Jacobson to be inducted into Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame – WLUC

NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WLUC) – Longtime Negaunee High School varsity football coach Paul Jacobson will be inducted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Negaunee Public Schools says Jacobson has been a pillar of Negaunee Athletics, dating back to his playing days at Negaunee High School during the 1985 and 1986 seasons. Jacobson later went on to play four years at Central Michigan University as an offensive lineman, earning All-Conference honors during the 1990 season.
Coach Jacobson started his coaching career at Mount Pleasant High School. After graduating from CMU in 1992, Jacobson was an assistant varsity coach and taught in Mt. Pleasant for four years. In 1997, Jacobson received a teaching and coaching job in Negaunee. Jacobson, at the age of 30, became Negaunee’s head football coach in 2000, after MHSFCA Hall of Fame member Dick Koski retired.
Since 2000, Coach Jacobson and his staff has accumulated 185 wins, reaching the MHSAA playoffs 20 times in 25 seasons. The highlight of the 2000 State Championship and the most recent runner-up finish in 2022 were great memories that Jacobson, his staff and players have given the community of Negaunee.
Coach Jacobson will be honored on June 21 in Troy as he will be inducted with 13 other current or former coaches from high schools throughout Michigan.
