Mikaela Shiffrin wins 98th World Cup Saturday in Finland
Skiing GOAT Mikaela Shiffrin notched her 98th World Cup win Saturday in Levi, Finland, at the slalom competition. Shiffrin and the field battled warm and snowy conditions on the slopes, with her teammate Paula Moltzan also finishing in eighth place. Shiffrin and the team will look to build upon their momentum as they head to the Gurgl, Austria Cup this upcoming weekend for another slalom race. “It is a great start to the slalom season,” said Shiffrin, “I had two really strong runs, so I am happy to fight on the second run in tough conditions!”
Miners Red hockey defeats Herriman
The Miners Red hockey squad defeated Herriman last Wednesday 8-0 at home. The win moved Park City to 11-0 on the season, where they remain atop the state standings. William Bock had a hat trick against Herriman, scoring two first-period and one second-period goals. Jackson Gready and Mitchell Berry each had two assists in last Wednesday’s game. Next up for the Miners Red is their inner-program rivalry game with the Miners White team. The game will begin next Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Park City Ice Arena.
Miners boys basketball season kicks off Wednesday
The Miners boys basketball season will kick off Wednesday night, with the team hosting Morgan at 7 p.m. The Morgan game is the first of a 23-game regular season, running through early February. The team is looking to bounce back from a 6-18, 2023-24 campaign, which ended in a first-round playoff loss to Provo. Morgan finished their 2023-24 season 12-12, losing in the second round of their playoffs to Judge Memorial Catholic. Friday, Park City will hit the road to take on their rival Wasatch at 7 p.m.
Miners girls basketball season begins Thursday
The Miners girls basketball season will begin Thursday night at South Summit. The South Summit game will tipoff at 7 p.m. Park City is looking to rebound from a 5-19 2023-24 campaign, which ended in a first-round playoff loss to Dixie. South Summit is coming off a 14-10, 2023-24 campaign, in which they fell in the first round of their playoffs to Summit Academy. The Miners will return home next Wednesday to take on Mountain View at 7 p.m.
Miners White hockey to take on East at home
The Miners White hockey squad will be taking on East Wednesday at the Park City Ice Arena. Park City is coming off a 3-3 tie with Bingham last week. The team is 7-1-1 and sits sixth in the state standings. After the East tie, the Miners White will prepare for their inner-program matchup with the Miners Red squad, to be held next Wednesday, Nov. 27. The Park City rivalry game will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Park City Ice Arena.
