The first Spring Showcase under Jonathan Smith is in the books, and what a successful day it was. The Michigan State football team got to put on a show in front of Spartan fans for the first time this season, and they did not disapppont.
There were so many takeaways from the showcase today, but these were the biggest three for me.
If there was any doubt that Aidan Chiles shouldn’t be QB1 this fall, that has been put to bed. Chiles did everything today I was hoping to see, from how he looked on the field to how he was acting off the field.
During the actual practice/scrimmage, Chiles made many throws that I feel like I haven’t consistently seen in Spartan Stadium in quite some time. And I know, this was just a scrimmage in mid-April and nobody on the defense was allowed to tackle him, but his elite arm talent was very apparent.
But I also loved what Chiles showed off the field as well. From interacting with the coaching staff and teammates as well as with the fans, he showed a lot of qualities that you would hope to see in a leader. If Michigan State is going to exceed expectations this season, a lot of it will be because of Chiles’ greatness. And so far he has proven himself time and time again as someone who can lead this team to great things.
