Louisville football’s return to the US LBM Coaches Poll was a brief one.
The Cardinals were 24th in the Week 11 poll but are now unranked after suffering a 38-35 loss at Stanford in Week 12. U of L gave up a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter on Saturday and aided Stanford’s game-winning field goal with 20 yards’ worth of consecutive penalties.
Louisville went to the West Coast with momentum after big wins over Boston College and Clemson prior to the Week 11 bye. But penalties and a slow start spelled trouble for the Cardinals.
The loss put U of L in a three-way tie with Georgia Tech and Syracuse for fourth place in the ACC standings.
