Olympic Champion Hannah Neise second in PyeongChang ahead of Janine Flock
PyeongChang (RWH) First World Cup victory to capture the lead in the World Cup: Skeleton athlete Freya Tarbit of Great Britain won the second race of the IBSF World Cup 2024/25 in PyeongChang (KOR). With the best time in both heats and an almost one-second lead, the 24-year-old celebrated her first victory in the race series. After finishing fourth in the World Cup opener, she has now taken the lead in the overall standings.
Olympic Champion Hannah Neise (GER, 0.96 seconds back) finished second at the Olympic Sliding Center in PyeongChang. Austria’s Janine Flock (1.02 seconds back), who finished second in the World Cup opener in PyeongChang the day before, came in third this time.
Jacqueline Pfeifer of Germany, who won silver at the 2018 Winter Olympics on the track in PyeongChang, finished 0.02 seconds behind the World Cup podium in fourth place ahead of Tabitha Stoecker (GBR) and Nicole Silveira (BRA).
Freya Tarbit leads the overall standings in the IBSF World Cup 2024/25 after the second of eight races with 417 points, followed by three-time European Champion Janine Flock (AUT, 410) and Hannah Neise (GER, 386).
