STUTTGART, Germany, Nov. 16, 2024–Isabell Werth on Wendy de Fontaine was the clear winner of the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday, putting the world No. 1 rider a step closer to competing in her 26th Final.
Isabell and the 10-year-old Danish Warmblood mare that were on Germany’s gold medal Olympic team and captured individual silver received a score of 86.745% a day after taking the Grand Prix.
The latest victory gave the most decorated equestrian in Olympic history a second victory in two starts in the Western European league of the World Cup leading to the Final in Basel, Switzerland in April and the prospect of a sixth title in the annual series. She won the qualifier at Lyon, France on DSP Quantaz earlier this month.
Larissa Pauluis of Belgium on Flambeau who competed at both the Paris and Tokyo Olympics, posted a personal best score of 80.395% for runner-up, the same placing as in the Grand Prix in this, the third of 11 World Cup qualifiers in Western Europe.
Larissa began competing Flambeau internationally almost five years ago. On the KWPN gelding, now 14 years old, she competed on Belgium’s team at the 2023 European Championships as well as a half-dozen Nations Cups.
Bianca Nowag-Aulenbrock of Germany on the 12-year-old mare Florine OLD placed third on 79.225%.
The next Western European qualifier is in Madrid Nov. 28-30.
Germany’s Katharina Hemmer logged won the CDI4* Grand Prix for the fifth victory so far this year on the 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding Denoix PCH.
Katharina an Denoix were awarded 73.478% for the win.
Isabell Werth on Gut Wettlkam’s D’avie FRH, the third start for Isabell on the 12-year-old Hanoverian stallion, was runner-up on 72.304%.
